Citi Smith Barney: Global Community Day – November 17
Episcopal Community Services benefits from CSB’s worldwide volunteer efforts.

Tens of thousands of Citi volunteers gathered across the world to participate in the company’s second annual "Global Community Day" on Saturday, November 17. Locally, the San Diego Citi branch focused their outreach efforts to help agencies committed to serving the community’s neediest citizens.
For four weeks, Citi employees collected canned and boxed food items for distribution to ECS’ Julian’s Programs for Women & Children, and Safe Havens transitional homeless programs. Every year at Thanksgiving over 150 families and individuals of these programs are provided with a turkey and all of the traditional sides for a complete holiday meal.

On Global Community Day, over 200 canned goods, boxed items and other foodstuffs were delivered to Episcopal Community Services. Citi employees also

donated over $400 in grocery gift cards and cash to supplement the food drive. “We collected so much more than we thought we would. Everyone really wanted to help Episcopal Community Services,” said David Reicks, a Citi Vice President and coordinator of San Diego’s efforts. “We’re so glad our efforts will help a lot of families enjoy the holidays.”
