When Joan Heylman, Director of Community Service for The Bishop’s School, suggested that students may want to participate in a fun outreach project to benefit the young clients of ECS, a great idea came to mind: mini first-aid kits for the kids in Head Start.
7th and 8th graders busily assembled the kits during lunch over a four-week period. Over 150 zippered plastic bags were filled, containing a pack of tissues, hand sanitizer, bandages and cotton balls. “These are great little bags to put in lunch boxes and backpacks” said Deb Moore, a Head Start Manager. “Children are always in need of tissues and hand cleaner, and having a handy kit makes cleaning up a little more convenient for them.” The Bishop’s School is a college preparatory school in La Jolla affiliated with the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego.
