ECS Para Las familias

Para Las Familias (PLF)  provides a range of bilingual mental health services to low-income children from birth to five years old and their families in the South Bay region of San Diego. Services include: screening, assessment, family therapy, school observation, teacher/provider consultation and parenting classes. With a focus on helping the entire family, PLF staff work directly with many community organizations to refer clients as needed to nutritional, vocational, health care and homeless services

ECS para las Familias Offers help with:

• Disobedience 

• Aggression & Anger 

• Hyperactivity 

• Severe temper tantrums 

• Difficulty following instructions 

• Difficulty relating to other children 

• Nervousness, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping/eating 

• Sadness or withdrawal 

• Trauma, loss, or separation 

• Divorce, sibling rivalry, or other family changes 

• Fussiness, clinginess, whining 

• Bonding with new baby or child

ECS Head Start & Early Head Start

ECS Head Start and Early Head Start are child development programs serving children from birth to age five, pregnant women and their families. More than 20 locations throughout the South Bay region of San Diego, including home-based programs, deliver child-focused programs with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families. Program benefits include a range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development; medical, dental, and mental health; nutrition; and parent involvement. ECS Head Start and Early Head Start are funded through a partnership with Neighborhood House Association. 

HOW TO APPLY

ECS Head Start is currently accepting applications for families interested in either Head Start or Early Head Start services. Families interested in applying can call or walk-in to the center nearest you (ECS Head Start Locations) or contact us via e-mail at: E2@ecscalifornia.org

You will need the following documents in order to enroll your child:

• Child’s birth certificate

• Child’s immunization record

• Parent’s proof of income: 2017 tax forms or pay stubs for the last 12 months (unemployment, self-employment or employer-written         statement).

• IEP or IFSP if applicable.

Head Start

ECS Head Start preschool programs provide comprehensive services to children ages 3 – 5 years of age. Head Start service options are designed to meet the needs of families and include:

Home-Based: comprehensive services for children from 3 to 5 years that includes individualized weekly home visits and two monthly group socialization for families

Center-Based: comprehensive services for children ages 3 to 5 years of age. Hours are full day (6+ hours) or part day (3.5 hours). The full day option is available to families that meet eligibility requirements for employment and/or enrollment in a vocational/training program.

Early Head Start

Early Head Start focuses on children six weeks to three years of age, as well as pregnant and post-partum women. Comprehensive services include parenting classes, individualized plans for children and transition services for children moving onto preschool. ECS Early Head Start program options include:

Services to Pregnant Women comprehensive services including weekly prenatal classes for pregnant women and their families as well as individualized postpartum home visits

Home–Based comprehensive services for children from birth to 3 years including weekly family home visits and two monthly group outings for families

Center-Based: comprehensive services for children 18 months to 3 years in a center-based setting, full day and five days per week. The full day option is available to families that meet the requirement for employment and/or enrollment in a vocational/training program

Family Child Care Program: comprehensive services for children 6 months to 3 years in a licensed family child care home setting, full day and five days per week. Families must meet full day eligibility requirement for employment and/or enrollment in a vocational/training program.
