Originally founded in 1927 to provide social welfare programs for "those who might otherwise be forgotten," Episcopal Community Services (ECS) expanded its scope in 1954 to provide programs to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all San Diegans. ECS was incorporated in 1955 and obtained its first government contract with San Diego County to provide counseling and jobs for men released from prison. Today, ECS provides over $45 million in health and human services in homelessness, mental health, substance use treatment, and early childhood education, impacting more than 10,500 clients and family members in the San Diego region.
Through your support, ECS is able to provide critical services to community members. Through 8 programs and 23 locations, including Head Start, Safe Havens, and a new Substance Use Disorder Residential Treatment program, your thoughtful generosity helps sustain these services that uplift and support our neighbors facing some of life's toughest challenges.
We invite you to walk alongside us in continuing our legacy of service and impact. Your gift today, provides a better tomorrow for someone in need!
Over the next year, to celebrate ECS 100 and to demonstrate 100 years of service, we’re sharing 100 Moments of Impact — small instances of impact from ECS clients, donors, volunteers, and staff. Follow us on Facebook to make sure you don’t miss a single moment!
